Guinness lovers in the Quantico area beware....the infamous Fiber McGee has been spotted at rooneys on quite a few successive nights....
Very cool site and awesome music!!
mickey man! i miss your show. you and jack are the bomb! when is your reunion.
Mickey, I miss Okinawa and Thursday Nights at Morrigans. Hope to see everyone together again sometime. I'm searching through Orlando Florida for alternate sites! Keep in touch! BREW
I thought MM and the T's sucked... Dave Ralston was a much better band... hugs and kisses - Jack :-)
To all of you Okinawa Marines, Sailors and Air men who are complaining of this Ralston fellow,
Consider yourselves lucky. When I was stationed there the closest Irish Pub was in Irland and the only place to get a Guiness was at the Italian Kitchen in Kin Ville. And that was only some times. I know that Mickey is a good Irish Blarney Artist and good singer but he is in Kansas City now so quit your crying and just thank your lucky stars that you have a good Irish pub to go to and drown your sorrows in Guiness (which I presume never ceases to flow.)
Mickey your web site is great. So is your cd. I am glad you drank so much Guiness at O'Dowd's that night that you forgot it and it fell into my hands! (That will teach you to drink so much Guiness! (You should always alternate it with some good Irish whisky, such as Bushmill's, that way your wits stay with you not scattered about you!)
I look forward to hearing you again in person.
As a fellow lover of Guiness and Irish music I commend you and wish you well in all of your many endevers!
welcome to Kansas City. I hope you find a many a 'gig' and strike up a fine following.
Upon being at the Brookside Irish Fest today,Iwas asked about a certain band that was printed on the back of my Milwaukee Irish Fest shirt(it would appear I go to more than a few Irish events!)-at any rate,I was later, given one of your songbooks. It would appear that was Mickey, "shamelessly" promoting the band.Nice to meet you and your band!I look forward to future performances.I hope ya'll "land" soon so I can come enjoy YOUR flavor of Irish. Thanks,Mickey, for the opportunity to experience music.I like it all!Hope to see you soon...Valerie
The first time I heard Mick, he was playing on the sidewalk in front of Morrigan's for International fest. Some young punk strode up and immediately criticized Mick's guitar, the way he played it, and the way he was singing. Mick simply said, "Thanks for the advice" and went on to his next tune. That young punk turned out to be Dave Ralston, who doesn't hold a candle to Mick in talent or personality. The same goes for Jack, Red, the Madman and Colleen - what a great bunch of folks the Travelers are!
Ralston and Winter? Ha! How can you even compare them? Winter's been around over 30 years, and Ralston is just a pup barely house-broken! Despite Winter's talent and success, his first hits were written and recorded with his brother Edgar, and properly credited, something Ralston would NEVER do! And his albums share the spotlight with Rick Derringer, again properly credited! And he records live albums with 7 of 8 tunes being "cover" tunes! What do you think, you ignorant schmuck, that he wrote Johnny B. Goode, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Good Morning Little School Girl, Great Balls of Fire, Long Tall Sally and It's My Own Fault? Get your facts straight, you prepubescent piece of shite! Winters played with Muddy Waters in his 30s and never grew a head the size of Ralston, who hasn't done anything of note! And so what if Winter was in Downbeat? Mickey was in Downbeat in 1982! So stuff a slide guitar up your undignified infant squeaky clean tight puckered arse cheeks before I do it for you! And by the way, Mickey is one cool mo-fo whose obvious goal is to please the crowds he plays for, not whack his meat on stage like Ralston. So up yours, and get your diapers changed!
I agree Dave Ralston should be honored to be mentioned on this web site. I personaly know he doesn't have the talent or character to share any spotlight with Mickey Mulligan and the Travellers. The comments about Indiana Slim-Dick on this web site are far to kind. They stooped way low to even include him with such talent as Too Pot Screamers and Byron Jones. So piss off you buggerer.
I am a Ralston fan. But I have to agree he has an attitude problem. Mickey and his band are much friendlier. David Ralston won't give me the time of day, but I keep returning to hear his excellent music. I kept going back to here Mickey and the travelers not because they are overly talented (but they really are) but because they are down to earth, funny, treat everybody like good freinds and put on a great show. Your both good bands and I appreciate Mickey giving Ralston credit. Where is Rlaston's web site anyways.
I was there the day Ralston warmed up for The Travelers the second time. Ralston started late, played only two sets, and took like an hour break. We all wanted Mickey...and he played two encores at the end of the night. Ralston can pack his shit and go as far as I'm concerned. Mickey's got the real Mojo, and we all wish he was still here in Okinawa!
Mickey Mulligan doesn't "get off" on anything but playing great music for us. I heard David Ralston warm up for The Travelers, and personnally, the guy has a serious attitude. I never listened to his band again, but went back again and again for The Travelers. Obviously, Ralston's fans have the same thin skin and attitude. Thanks, Mickey, for introducing us to bands we would have otherwise never heard of...even David Ralston, who if his attitude matched his talent, would be a great band to hear.
I'd love to know where you get off calling the Dave Ralston Band a "cover band"? Because he plays "Mojo Working"? I guess that would make Johnny Winter a cover band also. So who was it who first performed "70 Miles North" and "Good in their Hears", "Nail it Down", and "Rock and Roll Lane"? Also, what bars was he thrown out of? Must have been the same make believe dates he "warmed up" for you. Just because you play his keyboard between sets (without permission) at his release party doesn't mean you can make things lies up about him. This is a slap in his face. You're lucky he doesn't sue you for deframation of character just for putting his name on the same page as yours. This is an insult to him, his music and most of all his fans.
Yeah Jack, you little squirt! When ARE you coming to Kentucky? Love You!
Martin,
It was great being able to spend everyday of my month there in Okinawa at the Pub. The warm welcome from the first day and great food made the entire trip a pleasure and made it so I wanted to come back after my first night back in Virginia.
Rick
Just to let you know, the galleries are great to look through. I did appreciate getting a picture of me from the celtic festival. I am the bagpipe player that was there. I have been looking for any photos of that so I can keep a scrapbook and I appreciate the fact that you had at least one avaliable. Thanks a bunch. I am just about to PCS and I would like to thank not only the Madman Martin but also the playing of traditional Irish folk tunes. It made the 2 year stay here on the island of Okinawa much more enjoyable.
Pat Heston (Okinawa Higlanders), soon to be in a pipe band in Oklahoma.

That Brooklyn guy is hosed. Your last show was great! I never heard any Irish band as lively or funny. I hope you're together again soon. Hey! Is that Brooklyn guy the bald-headed dude with the annoying NY accent that hangs out at Morrigan's? He's a wanker!
hey guys i was at your last show and it sucked! cmon be original. you guys are pathetic.
hi yall
Hey that fiddler you have is so damn cool. I really miss hearing you guys play, especially her!! You think she would want to date a new yorker? Please have her email me, thank you thank you thank you
I miss you guys!!!!! When are you coming to Hawaii? Sorry I didn't gat to say bye before I left. Tell Martin hi for me and all the other crazy people here in Hawaii that miss Morrigan's!
I'm sorry that this is the first I've gotten around to writing you since I left. I have been really busy with PCSing and all that crap. I jst wanted to let you guys know that I haven't forgotten about you guys, and that as soon as I get a mailing address, I will send you guys those pictures I took on the last weekend I was here. I heard that everyone was going to be splitting up and all of that, and I also wanted to wish everyone the best of luck. You can all reach me at this e-mail address, or you can write the old-fasioned way at 136 Valley Circle Brandon, FL 33510 Once again, good luck and I hope to hear from everyone.
Cheers, Seamus
Great St. Patrick's day photos! Will you do the rest soon? Wish your band was staying in Okinawa. Erin go bragh!
We are really going to miss your shows and making fools of ourselves in front of everybody dancing. You made Okinawa really worth the stay. Your the best thing about this island and THANK YOU MICKEY MULLIGAN AND THE TRAVELERS!
What can we say? We've now lost our excuse for staying out late on school nights! We're really going to miss you guys - Thursday nights just won't be the same without being able to grab a pint and listen to the Travelers!! Take care and the best of luck on your new adventures!
To Mickey and the gang,
That was a great farewell concert last night. Going out to the Morrigans to listen to you play was one of the few good things about my TDY trips here from Hawaii. It just won't be the same anymore. Hopefully someday you'll get together again somewhere and I'll be there to hear you. PS. Let me know when the live CD is available.
Mickey and the Travellers...
You never really know how much you will miss something until it's gone. I am feeling that now, with a heavy heart. I know I did not come out to the gigs as regular as I would have liked, but I gave my support when I could. It was so rewarding to take part in your evolution @ Morrigan's. It was very exciting to see.
I will truly miss you guys. And I didn't even expect to get a signed CD and poster, wow! That really made my nite. And glad to make it to your last gig, too. All the best to you and good luck in your futures. Remember, "It's a musical journey."
Yes, Rowan, it seems to be working.....
Hi Mickey, I'm originally from County Fermanagh the neighbouring county to County Tyrone. Do you guys ever get the the Great White North (Canada) eh!! If so I'd love to make the show, I dont appreciate the taste of the black stuff however I'd let you buy me a pint of Kilkenny. All the best of luck!!!
Hey guys I havnt heard you as yet but since you are playing the music of the home land i hope that one day you will play here in Tralee. Oh and That jack is a hottie!
Mickey you're sexy......
We love you guys and can't wait for your Cd to come out. Will it be available at Morrigans? We didn't know you played in California.
I think y'all need to coach that shady Duggan character to improve his singing skills. Not only does he have a reputation as a "soapy" lover and seducer of tiny women, he has WAY too big of a house for one man and decorates it too well to be 'straight'. That's the rumor anyway..... We loved the Travelers in Carlsbad and can't wait for the CD to come out by the way!
hey fellas...just want to let you know that Max Hardcore is pretty good. I am going to send you guys a few tapes whenever Angry Mike sends my picture off the wall. Also send the pics that were taken my last sunday in Gooki. Well I gotta get going...the Guinness flows freely at Rooneys when on leave.
Kev
Hey Sleepy if your out there let me and Angry Mike know how your doing.
I was one of the original five and I had a blast while in Oki. If anyone wants to make their time go by faster and drunker then join the Lumberjack and Angry Mike for the thursday sing-a-longs. Well guys I am having the time of my life while on leave though I do miss the Travelers and the guys. Well I have to get going..I will keep in touch.
If anyone is out there Thrusday's you know who we are. Were the loud ones. We started as five then went to four now we are only two. So come out and join us. It will not be the same with out the others.
We were at the Highland Games this weekend and thought your band was awesome!! We've seen solo Irish singers in Boston and D.C., but your singing harmonies and talent is fantastic. Your fiddle player is great and you are both very funny too. We hope to see you at Morrigans Pub.
Enjoyed your musicwhen i was in Oki & i had a lot of fun playing & singing at the Moorigan's, Hideaway & Good Times. See ya'all soon. P.S., i \'ve started singing fine Irish drinkin' tunes back in Ca. http://members.aol.com/midikbds
Your killin the Morrigans Web page....make sure you tell them.
Just wanted to say that even though I am not really Irish, I still enjoy your music and the ability you have to make a man stay on his feet even when he is drunker than a skunk. Also wanted to state my appreciation for changing my life in a major way the first time I saw you guys live, won't say how exactly without permission from the boss. Good luck in your future endeavours.
P.S. - -If you get a chance, please say hello to that Wyoming cowgirl of yours and ask her what kind of farm animals she likes entertaining the most
Saw you guys for the first time on the second of March, and man you guys are great. Have you guys thought of putting out a cd? It would sell. See you guys next thursday.
I heard you guys for thw first time last night and you are awesome! I never heard such great music live before. see you again soon!
Hey lads! Long time, no see! Be at Morrigan's tonight for the sing-a-long. I would like to hear any new development you all have made in the tunes dept. Cheers. Seamus
In case you don't remember, I'm the guy who gets drunk and thinks he can sing. I have embarrased myself (and probably the band too) at least a couple of times now at The Morrigan's. But it's all in good fun, right? Thanks, again for the memories!
Brian
Well it wasnt the same with out Shaun there but God bless those teachers!!!
